It's time to take back DA...

Fri Jan 2, 2009, 3:43 PM
To the great board it used to be.

I don't know who actually reads these thoughts but I have been asked to comment on why all of my nude work has been removed. I chose to do so personally as my way of protesting the levels of pure crap that is appearing on DA recently. Four years ago when I joined (and paid for a subscription to) DA rules where in place restricting the artistic latitude of images that were allowed posting on this site. ..now I wish the rules were back. DA has become nothing more than a venue for individuals to post snapshote pictures of their pets which have no redeeming artistic value. In addition the cheap show all form of nudity that prevails this site takes away from the artistic venue of DA. As one other contributor rightly pointed out " How can I defend against against crap like this when people will use it to justify their negative position to nude art in general." This member is right. The crap that we have seen becoming more regularly on DA takes away from the true artists who practice their craft. An image of a naked body is not automatically art the way some here would believe it to be. It is time DA returned to it's core phylosophy and that is work that is truly artistic.

Huge agreement here. Question is how?

Applause!!
Aye much of the art nude gallery is pure crap, I try to equalize it a little (hope so)

They wouldn’t have made the cane if you weren’t meant to break the rules!

Most of it is a complete load. There seems to be very little artistic integrity in the genre now adays.

Wow... well put. :salute:

Trust me, I'm a professional...

This is not an easy issue to "fix". I have seen things change - some good, others not IMO. It appears that the rules for Scraps are not followed or policed like they used to be.

Because of it I rarely just browse here anymore. It depresses me that the category that I used to love so much has become a dumping ground.

On the other hand, one plus is that the rules on how explicit an image is also seem to have been relaxed. One can post more erotic and hard edged nude art without it being removed.

I totally stick with your views...
Moreover, how could a trashed nudity lead to any form of respect for a human being ?
I know that this era does not like rules, but if rules are not implemented, this dA thing will sink into something really not worth any interest, and will vanish...
:iconxemm:
Your views are accurate. However, the chances of the site going back to the former standards are probably very slim at this point.

You are correct, dA has become irrelevant. It was never about promoting Art with a capital A in the first place, someone just thot they could make money.
